We’ve posted quite a few remote working opportunities abroad, but for those of you who would prefer to stay within the continental US, there seems to be a new trend of cities offering cash relocation packages to remote workers. This city in Mississippi, for example, is giving $6,000, while this state is offering $10,000 and a bike. Tulsa, Oklahoma is the latest to announce that they will be offering remote workers $10,000 cash upfront to move to their city.
The catch? Besides having to actually move to Tulsa, the $10,000 grant is only valid if put towards buying a new home. However, if you're not looking to buy a home just yet, you can still get up to $10,000 for relocating to Tulsa, just not all at once. The Tulsa Remote Program offers relocation costs, a monthly stipend, and a bonus once you've lived and worked remotely in the city for one year.
Location, Location, Location
For those of you who have no idea where Tulsa is located, have no fear, we are here to help! Oklahoma's second-largest city is located on the Arkansas River and is home to one of the largest collections of art deco architecture. Conveniently located on Route 66, the city gets its fair share of tourism, however, you won't have to fight your way through traffic on your commute to work. On weekends, locals have quick access to surrounding parks – including a $456 million public park known as The Gathering Place – botanic gardens, and hiking trails.

Why Moving to Tulsa Could Actually be an Amazing Deal
Tulsa might not be the new San Francisco or New York City (yet!), but that doesn't mean it doesn't have its own thing going for it. Perhaps one of the biggest advantages of moving to Tulsa is affordability. Tulsa has a median home price of $157,000, meaning the $10,000 relocation grant could go a long way in helping to purchase your dream home. Not only does Tulsa boast a more affordable lifestyle for those looking to settle down and buy some property, but the city itself has a lively music and arts scene, as well as plenty of great restaurants, bars, and breweries.
Of course, don't just take our word for it. The program, which has been in operation since 2018, includes a $500 travel reimbursement so you can get a better idea if the city will fit your particular lifestyle. Even better, Airbnb has partnered up with Tulsa Remote to help members make the best decision by offering a $150 Airbnb credit so you can get a feel for a potential neighborhood.
On top of all that, the Tulsa Remote program offers access to an entire community of remote workers, including covid-friendly events such as virtual cocktail parties and networking events. Additionally, you'll have access to a coworking space in downtown Tulsa called 36 Degrees North. Sounds pretty good to us!
How Can I Apply? In order to qualify for the Tulsa Remote Program, you need to be willing to move to Tulsa sometime in 2021, be employed full-time, and able to work remotely or are self-employed outside of Oklahoma. You must also be 18+ years old and are eligible to work in the US. If this sounds like something you might be interested in and you check all the boxes, then apply HERE.
