Calling all daredevils and lovers of 'out of the box' accommodations - we think we've found the ULTIMATE destination for you... and it's only 34 miles off the coast of North Carolina!
The Frying Pan Tower was rocking the social distancing movement before COVID-19! Originally a lighthouse to deter vessels away from the shallow waters in which it stands, it was retired years ago and then turned into a hotel. This isn't any ordinary residence and certainly not for the faint-hearted. For one... the only way to get there is either by boat or helicopter. For another, the tower is surrounded by sharks and is occasionally hit by hurricanes.
But for those looking to truly switch off and discover something magical, this is for you. No light pollution means that you can see the billions of stars above at night and enjoy unspoiled sunrises by day.
The Frying Pan Tower is currently undergoing a restoration process and is looking for volunteers to stay on the remote light tower and lend a hand to help restore the tower to its former glory. Would you be up for the challenge? Find out more here.
