It's never healthy to focus on the negative, however, 2020 left us doing exactly that. So much so that doomscrolling, or the act of consuming an endless procession of depressing online news, officially entered the dictionary this year. I don’t know about you pirates, but this is something that I find myself doing on a daily basis. Luckily, Iceland is here to save the day!
The Icelandic Board of Tourism did an in-depth study to find just how much people were doomscrolling on their phones in 2020. Their study found that the average person was scrolling about 75 feet of bad news every day. (Thanks for that 2020). In order to help prevent doomscrolling, the board of tourism decided to create a website, which is both web and mobile compatible, that would allow people to scroll their negativity away.
Joyscroll is an interactive website that allows people to scroll through 75 feet of pure Icelandic joy. From beautiful nature scenes such as majestic blue whales and spouting geysers to inspirational quotes and uplifting musical performances by Icelandic stars, Joyscroll is helping to uplift our emotional wellbeing. Thank you, Iceland for helping to end 2020 on a high note.
