Free hotel stays in Cancun sounds like an opportunity too good to pass up! With such tempting claims, we are a bit skeptical, after all, it was said weeks ago that Sicily would cover half of the travel costs of foreign tourists this summer, and actions have not yet followed these words ...
Nevertheless, we want to take a closer look at this offer from the popular Mexican beach destination, a little closer to home.
The hotel association of Cancun, Puerto Morelos & Isla Mujeres, the Riviera Maya, Cozumel and the Grand Costa Maya are planning a large campaign to strengthen tourism called #Come2MexicanCaribbean, which is scheduled to start on June 15th.
The "2" in the name of the campaign is to be taken literally. For example, there will be two free nights offered for every two paid nights at the hotels.
The same offer will be true for rental cars. For every two days you pay, there will be two more given on top. In the case of amusement parks, golf courses and spas, however, there will be a 20% discount.
According to a press release, 200 companies are already getting involved and the bookings can start from August 15th.
What is the current situation on site?
Despite a new high in new infections, extensive loosening began last Monday. Hotels and beaches in the Cancun region should be able to receive tourists again from June 8th. So there is no minimum for entry, according to the IATA.
The campaign sounds extremely promising. However, please keep in mind, as always, things are subject to change, especially with the uncertainty of travel this year.
