Inverness — Home Of Loch Ness
Scotland is a sprawling, beautiful country with much to offer and while there’re plenty of cool and interesting things to see in the two biggest cities, Glasgow and the capital Edinburgh, some of the most beautiful and exciting Scottish sites can be found further north in the Scottish Highlands.
The Highlands are famous for their never-ending lochs, national parks, mountains, and numerous ancient battlefields commemorating all the lives lost between the Scottish fighters and the English Army. The Highlands have made their appearance in countless movies and TV shows, such as Outlander, the Bond films, and of course, Braveheart. Inverness is the capital city of the Highlands and also holds one of the most infamous lakes in the world; the Loch Ness.
The Great Beast Nessie
Everyone knows the tales of a terrifying creature lurking deep below the surface of the Loch Ness. She’s known to many far and wide as the Loch Ness Monster but also goes by the more friendly moniker of Nessie. Believe it or not, the first sighting ever recorded of the beast was in 565 AD when someone witnessed a servant being snatched up and eaten alive! Tales and images of the Loch Ness Monster have spread far and wide, but none have been able to physically capture the creature.
