Pirates, we need to talk about White Sands National Monument. It might just be the most crazily beautiful place in the United States that you've never heard of. Located in New Mexico, it's the world's largest gypsum dunefield—275 square miles of glittering white desert under an endless blue sky.


Azure skies, shadowy mountains in the distance, sand so white it looks like snow—the place is out-of-this-world gorgeous:
